Samosas are the kind of Indian Snack that is loved by almost everyone in the family. It’s the perfect snack to make for your kids when they get home hungry from school, for your guests at a homely get-together, or simply to enjoy on a rainy day. However, most often than not we end up ordering Samosas from out to avoid the hassles of making it at home. But what if you could make healthy baked samosa at home with absolute ease. You can easily do it using a Food Processor.

Ingredients:

  • Finely chopped carrots, beans, capsicum & cabbage - 1 cup
  • Boiled, mashed potatoes - 250 gm
  • Onion - 1, sliced
  • Ginger - A small piece, sliced or chopped
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Dry mango powder/Amchur - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander/Cilantro leaves
  • Oil - 1 tbsp

For the samosa dough

For the samosa dough

  •  Atta/Whole wheat flour - 1 cup
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Ajwain - 1/4 tsp
  • A little water for kneading

Directions:

For the veggie filling

Step 1 - For preparing the veggie filling, you can simply blitz the carrots, beans, capsicum and cabbage in the Kenstar food processor.

Step 2 - Heat 1 tbsp. of oil in a pan.

Step 3 - Fry the cumin seeds, onion and ginger for a minute or two.

Step 4 - Mix in the red chilli powder, turmeric, and garam masala.

Step 5 - Toss in the finely chopped veggies, add a little water, cover and cook.

Step 6 - Then mix in the boiled, mashed potatoes and dry mango powder.

Step 7 - Lastly add the coriander leaves, give it a stir, turn off the gas and let the filling cool.

For the samosa dough

Step 1 - Add 1 cup of atta, salt, ajwain seeds, and 2 tbsp of oil in a bowl. Mix everything till the flour becomes crumbly.

Step 2 - Add a little water to knead it into a firm dough.

Step 3 - Divide the dough into equal-sized balls, flatten them into a round shape and cut through the middle with a pizza cutter to make semi-circles.

Step 4 - Heap a tablespoon of the veggie filling on one end of the semi-circle dough shape.

Step 5 - Use your fingers to cover the filling with the other end of the dough, press the sides and make a samosa cone.

Step 6 - Grease a baking tray and place butter paper on it.

Step 7 - Place the samosas on the baking tray and brush oil lightly on top.

Step 8 - Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degree C for 15 minutes. Then pull out the baking tray and turn the samosas over on the other side. Brush oil on top and bake for another 15 minutes till they are golden brown.
